For Clinicians

Resources for Health Professionals

Evidence and clinical education to support GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists and allied-health practitioners caring for women through perimenopause and menopause.

01 — Foundations

Why Gender Matters

Women's mental health is shaped by biological, hormonal, psychological and social factors that are distinct from men's. From menarche through the reproductive years, perimenopause and beyond, hormonal transitions can profoundly influence mood, cognition and vulnerability to psychiatric illness.

Despite this, women's mental health remains under-recognised in research, clinical training and everyday practice. A gender-informed approach — one that takes reproductive history, hormonal context and lived experience seriously — is essential to accurate diagnosis, effective treatment and better outcomes for the women in your care.

The resources below have been curated to help clinicians build a working knowledge of the evidence base and translate it into their day-to-day practice.
